Building a Galaxy: “Star Wars: The Blueprints”
What weighs 30 pounds, contains the schematics for the Death Star and looks great on your coffee table? If you said R2-D2, you’re about 250 pounds off the mark. We’re talking about Star Wars: The Blueprints, a complete collection of the original blueprints created for the filming of the Star Wars trilogies. This oversized tome is filled with enough schematics and plans to make a Bothan blush.
Plucked from the overflowing Lucasfilm Archives, Epic Ink’s Blueprints is a detailed look into the creation of a world from the ground up. With memories and notes from the artists, designers and engineers that built the Star Wars saga, you get an unprecedented look at how the series was made including set photos, source material that inspired some of the creations and storyboards from the productions.
The book also includes blueprints and designs for the iconic ships, droids and set pieces that are burned into our memories: detailed plans for those droids you actually ARE looking for (seriously, how did you let that old guy fool you?), schematics for Vader’s meditation chamber (for quiet Vader time) and the mother of all motley ships, the Millenium Falcon. Particularly brave Padawans may even want to try building some of the structures featured, because who wouldn’t want to build an exact replica Ewok village in their tree? (If you do this, we want pictures.)
The book is a worthy addition to any library, though its size and content do come with a price tag Watto would want to haggle. If you’re going to drop the necessary credits on this, make sure you do your due diligence and make a nice place to display it. May we recommend using the blueprints to build a Han Solo in Carbonite bookcase?
Star Wars: The Blueprints can be found via Epic Ink’s online store, with the numbered edition costing $500 and the limited autographed edition running $1000.

Photos Of Horror Movie Creepers In Their Golden Years
This is Horror Vacui, a series of photographs by Federico Chiesa depicting horror movie creepers (plus Darth Vader) in their old age. They...look a lot less terrifying. Except the twins from The Shining -- they're even worse. Man, remember the first time you saw that movie and SPOILER: there was that naked lady with the bush stepping out of the bathtub (NSFW Youtube clip HERE) and in the beginning you were all, "Yes please!" and then she turns into like a zombie and you were, "Aaaaah, no more boners!" Turns out that was a metaphor for adulthood.
Hit the jump for the rest.

Geekify Your Facebook Timeline Cover Photo with InstaCover
Got the new Facebook Timeline yet? Don’t worry if you don’t. I am sure you have not failed to notice that note saying that everyone will be getting the new Timeline by the end of this month. I have ranted about the Timeline in the past, but to be honest, I couldn’t care less now. In fact, the idea of playing around with the cover photo is not all that bad.
Of course, when it comes to customizing the cover photo, one would automatically think about geekifying it, wouldn’t one? After all, it is a great way of showcasing your geeky interests.
Enter InstaCover. This web service might look familiar to you, and rightly so. Not too long ago, Robin wrote about how you can geek up your Twitter profile using InstaBG, and the concept is basically the same, except this time, you work with the Facebook cover photo.
Using InstaCover, you have access to tons of photos taken using Instagram. Hate it or love it, Instagram does give you a way to make photos look more attractive – a very useful thing if you are using a camera that isn’t exactly top notch!
All that you need to do is to visit the InstaCover web site, where you will be asked to log in using Facebook. You do not have to register, nor do you have to pay. You do have to allow the app to access your Facebook account – just like most any other app out there.
Once you have logged in using your Facebook account and given access to InstaCover, you will be presented with the panel, where you can create a collage of Instagram photos following your specified theme. You can either indicate your Instagram ID (this limits the collage to your own photos), or you can use categories or tags to use other people’s Instagram photos.
That’s the panel where I have used “batman” as the tag, and below is the resulting cover photo.
Here’s another one, with the tag “zombies”.
My favorite, without a doubt.
True, there are one or two odd photos in the mix, but this should not be much of an issue if you use your own Instagram photos (provided you tag smartly as well).
If you are looking for a way to make your cover photo stand out more, InstaCover it!

Artist Creates 'Genetic Portraits' By Seamlessly Splicing Together Headshots Of Relatives
This is a gallery of "genetic portraits" made by artist Ulric Collette by Photoshopping together photos of his family members. This is a father and daughter portrait here of Daniel, 60 and Amélie, 33. Not necessarily a new idea, but definitely the most Two-Face looking execution I've seen. And speaking of Two-Face executions, *pointing gun* call it in the air -- heads or tails. "Tails." Too bad, you lose. "That's not even a coin -- it's a shirt button!" Ugh, MONEY'S TIGHT RIGHT NOW.
Hit the jump for several more but be sure to check out Ulric's website for the rest.

Millennium Falcon Guitar With Light & Sound FX
This is a custom electric guitar pieced together by Youtuber fiskybusiness89 out of a plastic Millennium Falcon toy and handmade R2-D2 head stock. I don't know about you, but I for one would smash the shit out of that on stage after one song and then yell "SHOW'S OVER, NO REFUNDS." Did I mention it's hyperdrive lights up and has sound effects? Sound effects IN ADDITION to the standard guitar ones (twang twangs). Still, no word if it can make the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsnips. "You mean parsecs?" I don't know, do I? "You've never seen Star Wars, have you?" Ha, only The Wrath of Khan.
